"This phenomenal hoofer returns to the stage for amazing "feets" (get it?) dancing while playing spoons, dancing while juggling scarves, and her famous "Rhythm-In-Chair." (Quechee Balloon Festival) "I have worked with most, if not all , dance performers in New England and North America who use elements of traditional dance as a major part of their repertoire. This includes musical accompaniment, promoter and artistic and grant selection committees for arts organizations, festivals, concert series, and instructional camps. Ann Whiting is easily one of the best. She is extremely versatile, covering a wide range of styles. She is innovative, always adjusting and tweaking her skills and presentation. She is experienced, having performed solo and with multiple combinations of other dancers and musicians. And she is one of the most dedicated, energetic dancers I know. No one loves to dance more than she, and her obvious joy rubs off on everyone she encounters - other dancers, accompanying musicians, and audience alike." (Mark Sustic)
"As a musician and dancer myself, I have known Ann Whiting for a long time. Over the years, I have watched her evolve from an enthusiastic student into a seasoned professional dancer. Ann is endlessly creative as a choreographer, teacher, and stylist, but it is as a soloist that she really shines; that is where her love of stepdance is so strikingly apparent. Her creations are so engaging and so much fun to watch that you might just forget to notice that they are also intricate and sophisticated works of performance art. If I were you, I wouldn't miss an opportunity to see Ann Whiting dance." (Dan O'Connell, dance instructor, dance caller, musician)
"Over the past few years, as a musician who works with Ann, I've marveled at the passion and creativity that she brings to clogging and stepdance. She's like a kid in a candy store as she is continually coming up with new ways to play at her art, whether it be new steps, juggling scarves, or tapping shoes worn on the hands. In a performance, Ann's enthusiasm is contagious and her sense of play never fails to draw in an audience and send them away smiling. All of this coupled with a large helping of skill and grace add up to a recipe for high energy fleet-footed fun." (Rick Klein of Atlantic Crossing)
"I really dig the energy of Ann Whiting and concur with "Bright and Energetic." (Douglas Day - Maine Music & Art Festival) |
