LYN HARDY & DIANE SANABRIA

 Home

Lyn Hardy and Diane Sanabria coook up an unparalleled blend from the many flavors of America's traditional music. The season their sets with spicy dance tunes featuring the banjo, and sweeten them with songs from folk and country music's best traditional and contemporary offerings. Their music appeals to all ages - children delight at their quick wit and charm and eagerly join in with singing, dancing or playing rhythm instruments. Adults may sing along with a song they remember or have just learned, and all want to tap their feet along with the bright sounds of a banjo tune.

Lyn's singing ranges from achingly tender to brassy yet bittersweet. Her way with a song has taken her all over this country, Canada and Europe. She has been performing for thirty years starting as a Greenwich Village folkie, through stints with David Bromberg, Cat Mother and the All Night Newsboys, the Putnam String County Band, Jay Ungar, Rude Girls,Lyn Hardy and The New Nohemians and Celtic Crossing. she has recorded a children's album on Gentle Wind Records called, "A Place To Be" which is also the name of her children's radio show on WAMC FM in Albany New York. She is also a first rate songwriter and her songs have been included in a Smithsonian Folkways collection called, "Folksong America" and recorded by Ronnie Gilbert and other well known artists.

Since the age of four, Diane has devoted her life to the performance, study and teaching of music. A veteran of New York's High Schoool Of Music and Art, she studied guitar, voice and banjo in college, and is a certified public school music instructor. She is one of New England's leading clawhammer banjoists, and is the first woman ever to win the now legendary Newfane Banjo competition. (hence the title, "The Banjo Queen Of The Pioneer Valley"!) Her seemingly effortless harmony singing and her superb guitar and banjo abilities add a unique dimension to the may groups she has played with, such as The Briar Hill Ramblers and Rude Girls.
